Überblick : Ein Astronaut kehrt verletzt von der Mission des Space Shuttles Oklahoma zurück. Was zunächst aussieht wie eine einfache Verletzung durch Metroidengestein entpuppt sich in Wahrheit als Parasitenbefall. Der Weltraumarzt Dr. Jerome Horne (Nicholas Lea) will den Befall zunächst vor den Zivilisten verschweigen, holt sich aber Expertenrat der Biologin Dr. Savannah Bailey (Jamie Luner). Die Parasiten gelangen aber aus der Forschungsstation der US-Weltraumbehörde und fangen an unschuldige Menschen zu befallen. Immer mehr Menschen verschwinden plötzlich und tauchen völlig verändert wieder auf. Die mottenähnlichen Schädlinge verwandeln ihre Wirte in insektenartige Kreaturen in Menschenhaut. Noch beschränkt sich der Befall nur auf eine Stadt, doch schon bald werden die Viecher ausschwärmen. Dr. Horne und Dr. Bailey bleibt nur wenig Zeit um eine Epidemie zu verhindern und die Parasiten zu vernichten.
